• The cartridge cases are made from round blanks

  • A CM 135 circular vibrator with a vibratory buffer launder and an AQS 400 soaping system

  • Cups after the heat treatment

  • Cups after cleaning in the circular vibrator

  • A typical machine configuration: A Trowal CM135 circular vibrator with feeding hopper, combined with a Trowal CT 135 dryer

  • The CM circular vibrator makes use of the rubbing effect between the workpieces during treatment

  • During the wet treatment, the circular vibrators are tightly closed with a lid

  • At the end of the production process, the surface of the cartridge cases is passivated

  • The flocculant units treat the process water with such high efficiency that the cleaned water may be discharged into the sewage system

  • The Rotamat coats projectiles with a lubricant finish

  • A projectile before (left) and after (right) the finishing treatment in the circular vibrator

Defense

Ammunition

With the experience of more than one hundred machines supplied and installed into the ammunition industry, the experts at Walther Trowal know the processes involved in the production of ammunition and optimally integrate surface treatment into the forming process.

Cartridge cases

The production of cartridge cases is a highly interlinked process: After each forming stage, the surface of the cases produced step by step must be treated differently to ensure the safe functioning of the ammunition. This includes, for example:

  • pickling
  • washing
  • drying
  • passivation

Our CM circular vibrators have proven themselves for all these processes. They are used by manufacturers of weapons and ammunition who supply military and public services, for example police or customs, as well as hunters and sport shooters. Walther Trowal is one of the few manufacturers to offer a complete surface treatment solution from blank to the finished cartridge case from a single source: Machines, process media and process water technology are perfectly coordinated - guaranteeing efficient processes and high quality of the finished ammunition.

Projectiles

Rounding
CM circular vibrators or TFM trough vibrators also process the surface of the projectiles, which are usually made of lead: they deburr and round the edges.

Coating
Some projectiles for special applications are additionally coated with bonding coating so that they can be reliably pressed into the case. Walther Trowal also supplies the right machine for this task: the Rotamat Coating machine.
